Price objections are not always about price. They can signal weak fit, unclear value, poor timing or a buyer who has not connected the problem to money.

Before reducing price

Ask what outcome matters, what doing nothing costs and which part of the offer feels unnecessary. Change scope before casually donating margin.

If your team discounts differently, create clear guardrails: who can approve, what must be exchanged and how the change affects value. A concession should buy commitment, speed or scope—not temporary relief from an awkward silence.

Watch the pattern

Track discounts by salesperson, offer and customer type. Repeated discounting is a clue. Your offer may be unclear, the wrong customers may be getting through, or the team may need help explaining the value.
